Depending on your starting point, injury and lifestyle, you will feel an instant relief, especially with the hot and cold combination. With skin injuries, results will be visible after some weeks, only if you continuously use the treatments, as the impact needs to be built up over time. It is important that you stick to your personal treatment plan to support the healing process.
Generally speaking, if you miss a week of treatments, you can of course jump back into your plan. However, for faster and more efficient results it will be best if you are consistent and diligent with your treatments at least four to six weeks before any break. If your downtime is longer than two weeks, we recommend that we re-evaluate your comeback strategy together to ensure you the best possible results.
When the session is complete, your skin will return to its normal temperature within minutes however, you will usually feel it in your body up to 24 hours after a session. Immediately after a session, you may feel a slight tingling sensation but this will normally evaporate within minutes, and you will feel energised and in high spirits due to the release of endorphins from your brain. Muscular pain generally begins to subside right away and you will experience a much better mobility in your joints.
Acute injuries can be treated right away. However, with open wounds you will have to wait until your tissue is healed. If there are no open wounds you can start right away.
Cryotherapy is used to treat other skin conditions such as warts and skin tags. Cryo sessions can have multiple benefits in accelerating the body’s natural healing process and ease pain and bruising following surgery and injury. It may reduce swelling and promote an anti-inflammatory function in the body’s healing blueprint. Consider it to be like a super advanced and highly effective ice pack except that it goes on to your entire body and works on a much deeper level, more controlled rate without the burning sensation of ice.
Benefits may include:
- Reduced pain from inflammation
- Reduced muscle and joint tenderness
- Immune system boost
- Increased healing to muscles and tendons
- Reduced severity of bruising
- Increased flexibility and muscle endurance
- Renewed skin and blood cells
- Reduced swelling from injury
Cryotherapy has shown to accelerate surgical recovery by reducing inflammation, pain and boosting the body’s own healing processes.
We will safely guide you through the best possible post-surgery recovery plan or help you with the right treatment plan to boost your pre-operation body.
We always adjust our treatments based on time, temperature and frequency, so they are targeted specifically to your skin and body type, and how you react to the different treatments.
It’s a very effective way of destressing and relaxing your body, and at the same time leaving you feeling more energised and fresh.
The hot and cold combination is used together in an alternating pattern to create a “pumping” action in the circulatory system by restricting circulation to reduce swelling and then increasing circulation in your whole body. Especially the Infrared Sauna is more effective in moving toxins through the skin compared to a traditional sauna. This is due to the fact that in a far infrared sauna only 80-85% of the sweat is water with the non-water portion being cholesterol, fat-soluble toxins, toxic heavy metals, sulfuric acid, sodium, ammonia and uric acid.
Heat increases skin and joint temperature, as well improves blood circulation and muscle relaxation and decreases joint stiffness. Cold will numb the pain, decrease swelling, constrict blood vessels and block nerve impulses to the joint, and give you increased energy and alertness, as well as a metabolism boost.
Some of the most common types of chronic pains that can be relieved with these treatments are:
- headache / migraine
- post-surgical pain
- lower back pain
- cancer pain
- arthritis pain
- neurogenic pain (pain caused by nerve damage)
- psychogenic pain (pain that isn’t caused by disease, injury or nerve damage)
The short answer is no it doesn’t, at very high levels it can get a bit uncomfortable, but not painful. You are trained by an educated EMS instructor, that will make sure to guide you – under controlled and safe conditions.
It doesn’t hurt, but can feel a bit uncomfortable depending on your sensitivity to cold. It basically feels like going down a ski slope very fast. Our clients say the treatment is bearable, or even nice – but more importantly that it is worth every minute as the outcome is much bigger than the effort.
Developed through years of medical research, LED Light Therapy is completely painless. It’s a pure non-laser light source through a matrix of purpose-built LEDs. During treatments clients feel a warm sensation over the face – similar to the feeling of lying under the sun, but lighter and without the sunburn.
If you have peripheral vascular disease affecting your lower extremities, you should not wear compression socks. The pressure provided by compression socks may make ischemic disease worse.
Compression pants apply pressure to your legs and ankles, which may reduce the diameter of major veins by increasing the volume and velocity of blood flow, help blood flow up toward the heart, help prevent blood from refluxing downward to the foot or laterally into superficial veins.
The treatment is cold, as the cold comes from dry air and not water. However it feels less painful compared to e.g. winter bathing or taking a very cold shower.
Before treatment you are required to dress in protective clothing composed of cotton socks, cotton underwear (for men) and gloves. The duration of the treatment is between 2-3 minutes and the cold is ‘dry’, so it is very tolerable. Towards the end of the treatment, you may get a ‘pins and needles’ sensation, which disappears immediately after the treatment.
Cryotherapy saunas or spas have been used for almost 40 years. The only danger is if a client steps into the machine with wet clothing (e.g. with wet socks) as water will freeze immediately at these temperatures.
The nitrogen used to cool the chambers is the same nitrogen that makes up 78% of the air we breathe. In either type of chamber, you will breathe normal air in the room. For safety, the chambers are equipped with an oxygen monitor. In order to protect the more temperature sensitive tissues such as hands and feet clients must wear dry socks, slippers and gloves, which we provide.
All our treatments are well tested and completely safe. During your treatments, there will always be an educated therapist to guide you and make sure you go through the treatments under controlled and safe conditions.
