Both men and women often experience that hair structure, quality and strength change with age. Hair loss is often genetically determined. But season and other factors also play a role. Stress, hormonal changes, vitamin deficiencies and styling products can affect the quality and strength of our hair.
But luckily there is help available. PRP/PRF for hair loss in both men and women is one of the most effective non-invasive treatments on the market. The treatment can also be instrumental in stimulating the growth of hair transplants.

about the treatment

PRP/PRF (platelet-rich plasma)

PRP stands for “Palleted Rich Plasma”, which is a treatment that involves using platelet-rich blood plasma to strengthen the body’s natural ability to regenerate itself.

With a PRP/PRF treatment we can slow down and prevent hair loss, as well as stimulate hair growth in both men and women. With the help of your own unique growth factors in your blood plasma, the body’s cells can be repaired and stimulate new hair growth, making your hair stronger and thicker. PRP/PRF for the hair is a non-invasive treatment, specially developed for hair loss and thinning hair, and with nothing less than amazing results.

PRF is a newer and more potent version of PRP. The difference is Fibrin, which is a fibrous protein that forms a healing membrane which helps with tissue healing. The treatment is the same the difference lies in the way we centrifuge your blood. PRF stands for Platelet Rich Fibrin and can be translated as “Platelet Rich Fibrin”. PRF is 30-40 times as effective as PRP, which is why we treat with PRF.

How does it work?

In a PRP treatment against hair loss, a concentrated amount of blood plasma is extracted from your own blood via a blood sample. Using a centrifuge, we separate the plasma plates, which are subsequently injected where we want to regenerate the cells. Plasma is introduced with small injections into the scalp, also called microneedling, which creates a lot of tiny micro-damages in the skin that kick-start the body’s own natural healing process.

We use the Dermapen to reinject your blood plasma into the desired area. Dermapen® uses 16 microneedles to stamp the skin vertically at high speed. The stamping effect of the Dermapen’s vertical tip creates the desired micro-damages on the skin and blood circulation increases. When this is combined with your own concentrated blood plasma, the hair is stimulated to grow back. Blood plasma contains growth factors that activate the stem cells around the hair follicles.

How often should a PRP/PRF treatment be done?

When the PRP/PRF treatment is performed to recover weak hair follicles, we recommend 5-10 treatments at 2-3 weeks intervals to prevent hair loss and initiate growth, after which it is recommended to maintain the regimen with one treatment every half year.

PRP/PRF can also be used to treat various skin problems and has a rejuvenating effect when used on the face, neck and décolleté.

No downtime

The treatment takes approximately 1 hour. Your scalp may be sore for the following days, and optimally you don’t wash your hair until the next morning, so that you get the most effect from the blood plasma. It may therefore be a good idea to bring a cap or hat if you are going directly to work for example.
