about the treatment
Our Whole Body Cryotherapy stimulates a cold shock, which starts the body’s self-repair process. This results in faster recovery and pain management, while decreasing stress hormones in the body, leaving you energized and in high spirits.
Furthermore, the treatment accelerates an anti-inflammatory response in the body and will result in enhanced mood, better metabolism, improved skin and sleep.
With Whole Body Cryotherapy, you can expect to immerse yourself in a mist of subzero air down to -130°C for 3 minutes. The temperature of the skin surface is reduced to around -15°C. This triggers the body’s survival mechanism – a flight or fight response – releasing endorphins and causing rapid blood circulation throughout your body. Capillaries expand up to four times their normal size, enabling white blood cells to access and heal injuries faster. This results in an increase in collagen production, improved skin elasticity and texture, and an energy boost. When you return to room temperature, your extra-oxygenated blood triggers an immediate anti-inflammatory response as well as a number of pain relieving benefits.

It’s cold, but because the cold comes from dry air, and not water, it feels less painful than for example winter bathing or a very cold shower. The treatment has a short duration of 2-3 minutes and the cold is ‘dry’, so it is very tolerable. Towards the end of the treatment, you may get a ‘pins and needles’ sensation, which disappears immediately after the treatment.
Before treatment you will be dressed in protective clothing composed of cotton socks, cotton underwear (for men) and gloves.
Cryotherapy saunas have been used for almost 40 years. The only danger is if a client steps into the machine with wet clothing, especially wet socks, as water will freeze immediately at these temperatures.
The nitrogen used to cool the chambers is the same nitrogen that makes up the air we breathe (actually 78% of it). In either type of chamber, you will breathe room-air. For added safety, chambers are also equipped with an oxygen monitor. In order to protect the more temperature sensitive tissues such as hands and feet, clients wear dry socks, slippers, and gloves, which we provide you with before your treatment.
Cryotherapy has been shown to accelerate surgical recovery by reducing inflammation and pain and boosting the body’s own healing processes.
We will guide you safely through the best possible recovery plan post-surgery or help you with the right program for boosting your body pre-operation.
Acute injuries can be treated right away, but with open wounds, you will have to wait until your tissue is healed. If there is no open wounds you can start right away. Cryotherapy is also used to treat many skin conditions (including warts and skin tags) and some cancers, including prostate, cervical and liver cancer. This treatment is also called cryoablation. Cryotherapy sessions can have multiple benefits in accelerating the body’s natural healing process and ease pain and bruising following surgery and injury. Cryotherapy may reduce swelling, and promote an anti-inflammatory function in the body’s healing blueprint.
