The Pilates exercises, we practice on the reformer machine, use resistance to induce muscular contraction. By stretching the muscle, the muscle fibres lengthen and re-align, which is an amazing way to shape the body, giving you a tighter and leaner physique.The practice is performed on a bed-like frame that uses different weighted spring combinations to create resistance, when we move the carriage back and forth.
Reformer is a phenomenal workout for your body’s “powerhouse” or your abs, lower back, hips and glutes. It is heavily focused on alignment and accurate muscle engagement, which can lead to improved posture, better balance and more stability, especially when in motion.
To quote Joseph Pilates, who invented the reformer: “In ten sessions you will feel better, in 20 you will look better, and in 30 you will have a whole new body.” If you are doing two to three sessions a week, you should start to see results in 10-12 weeks.
